House

Angelique knew better than to fish outright in a hotel bar. Convenient as it was, with the hotel just steps away, the management always objected once they worked out just what she was doing there. She didn't even wear her usual working clothes, instead opting for a high-necked lace shirt and long layered skirt that set her apart from the tourists and business travelers who were the simplest tricks.

She bought drinks that she sipped very slowly, enjoyed the music, and chatted up anyone who approached, but she'd made a fatal error when she struck up a conversation with an American businessman. He was already drunk, and brazenly asked her if she was a hooker. Then, when she tried to demur, he asked again, louder and more slowly.

"You do realize that we invented the language you're mangling just now, don't you?" Angelique asked, annoyed.

The red-faced man in the business suit trapped her against the bar, leaning in her face and demanding again to know if she was a hooker, and laughing as though he were some sort of comedic genius. The bar staff ignored it. Pointedly. Obviously, no one was going to come to her aid.

Alcuin

Angelique might be new to the idea of the supernatural, but she wasn't new to the way people behaved, and why they did what they did. She didn't need long to put the facts together when it came to Alcuin Delaunay, and what he'd said to her that night at Saturnalia. A few weeks had gone by, but after getting over the initial shock of her conversation with Kersen, Angelique called Alcuin and invited him to meet her for coffee.

She arrived at the coffee shop in a champagne and black polka-dot dress that looked new but could have been lifted right out of a World War II period film, perfectly tailored for her. Her heels were low and practical, her makeup subdued except for perfect red lips. Though she entered with perfect posture and her head held up, she looked around quickly for Alcuin.

Robin

Angelique took a cab to the address that Rob had given her on the card. It was far more posh than her neighborhood, but she was dressed for it, and ready to be absolutely and utterly herself for a few hours, to wipe the rest of the day away.

The club did not look open for business, as Rob had said, but when she tried the front door, it opened. Perfectly confident, she stepped inside, wearing a black tuxedo one-piece, high-waisted trousers and a form-fitting vest top with an extremely plunging neckline framed by silk lapels. She'd tailored it to fit her shape, and wore no padding, defining a slender but decidedly not feminine body beneath. Her criss-cross strap heels, long loose hair, black-lined eyes, and yes, that Banned Red lipstick contrasted the straight lines of her clothes with luscious femininity. Everyone who saw her would be wondering, and that was exactly what she wanted. For them to wonder.

Tonight, only Rob got to know for sure.

Kersen

Angelique had promised Kersen some sort of adventure, and while it wasn't quite the sort of thrill she'd originally envisioned, she was fairly certain that Kersen had never seen anything quite like Naked Boys Reading. It did exactly what it said on the tin: handsome young men read Shakespearean sonnets, scenes, and monologues on the little bar stage wearing absolutely nothing. The venue was properly intimate, easy to hear and see, and the greatest delight for Angelique was the look on Kersen's face when the name of the event was announced.

Still chuckling, she stepped back out into the London spring night once the show had let out. A few martinis during the reading left her flushed and rather light-headed... and her companion most certainly contributed to that light and airy feeling. "I hope you forgive me for not telling you what we were seeing beforehand," she said with a smile up at him.
